Infectious Diseases Associates
and Travel Medicine
About Us
Infectious Diseases Associates and Travel Medicine (IDATM) provides extensive infectious disease care in both the in-patient and out-patient settings. We also provide travel counseling, vaccination, and post-travel follow-up.
All of our physicians received specialized training in infectious diseases. After completing four years of medical school and three years of training in internal medicine, an infectious disease specialist spends two to three years of focused study on infectious diseases. The physicians at IDATM are board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Infectious Diseases.
What is an Infectious Disease Specialist?
Many common infections can be treated by your primary care provider, but your provider may refer you to an Infectious Disease Specialist when an infection is difficult to diagnose, does not initially respond to treatment, or requires specialized or intravenous therapy. Infections include diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or other microscopic organisms. The doctors at IDATM also serve as primary care physicians for some people with HIV/AIDS, trating most of their illnesses and coordinating their patients' overall care.
